TITLE: Operational Supervisor: School Based Health Liaison SUMMARY: Provides administrative supervision to school-based behavioral health liaisons (SBBHL), and provides community education, advocacy, referral, training, and support as defined within the contract for this position with the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS).
Helps establish relationships with referral sources and school systems in order to help connect students, families and school staff with needed behavioral health services and resources offered by SBBHLs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: Master’s degree in behavioral health-related field required.
Licensure: Must possess the highest level of licensure/certification appropriate to degree.
Experience: Experience in the field of behavioral health and health-related promotion, public relations, and school-based services are desirable.
Knowledge/Skills: Verbal/written communication skill Ability to safely operate motor vehicle.
Ability to effectively address individual, small and large g Creative problem-solving Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, and build rapport with children and youth.
Knowledge of the focus population.
Self-directed Must possess the ability and desire to learn new skills to include cultural competency, SBBHL procedures, the policies and protocols of local educational agencies (LEAs), and community resources.
Committed to the project principles as defined in the scope of services for the contract for this position.
EQUIPMENT: Computer, general office equipment, motor vehicle and any other equipment required to perform the functions of the position.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrate knowledge of requirements for the SBBHL program and scope of services as defined in the contract for this position.
Obtain necessary training in the requirements and responsibilities for the duties of this position as outlined by TDMHSAS.
Provide outreach education, advocacy, promotion, referral, training, and assistance to students, school staff and families in schools where SBBHL services are offered.
Will be knowledgeable of and follow the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)- framework as defined in the contract for the SBBHL program.
Disseminate educational information about SBBHL services and provide consultation to school personnel and specifically to teachers with students with SED or students who are at risk for mental health or substance misuse disorders.
Will assist school administration, staff, and teachers in identifying and implementing schoolwide trauma-informed practices, including universal prevention and early intervention strategies that promote a positive school climate Will train all new SBBHL employees in the SBBHL model and program implementation.
Will foster positive partnerships between the school and student families through providing liaison services and will assist in connecting students, school staff and families to resources in their community.
Will conduct school in person site visits as defined in the scope of services for the contract for this position Will attend all local, state, or other required meetings as defined in the contract.
Will adhere to and meet all defined goals, outcomes, and expectations as defined in the contract for this position.
Will report any concerns, problems, or issues regarding the SBBHL program or staff to the Division Director.
Ensure that communication between the school systems, school administration, school staff, and the SBBHL staff and Division Director is happening on a regular basis.
Will be knowledgeable about a Trauma Informed Approach system.
Will provide administrative supervision and oversight to assigned SBBHL staff.
