REQUIREMENTS:
· Is eligible for certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, or as an Activities Professional by a recognized accrediting body on or after October 1, 1990; or
· Has 2 years of experience in a Social or Recreational Program with the last 5 years, one of which was full-time in a Therapeutic Activities Program; or
· Is a qualified Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant; or
· Has completed a training course approved by the state.

Duties:
- Plan, organize, and coordinate a variety of activities and events for residents in a nursing home or assisted living facility.
- Develop and implement programs that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being of residents.
- Provide individual and group counseling to address aging issues and support residents' emotional needs.
- Coordinate memory care programs for residents with dementia or memory loss.
- Collaborate with social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for residents.
- Oversee the scheduling and logistics of activities, including transportation arrangements.
- Maintain records and documentation related to activities and resident participation.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of activities and make adjustments as needed.
Skills:
- Caregiving experience in a nursing home or assisted living setting.
- Knowledge of aging issues and counseling techniques.
- Familiarity with memory care programs for individuals with dementia.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members.
- Ability to plan and organize events that cater to the diverse interests and abilities of residents.
- Experience in event planning or coordinating social activities is preferred.
