Job Purpose/Scope: The Safety Manager is responsible for establishing and promoting the maintenance of a safe, accident-free, secure, and healthy work environment through achieving organizational objectives and regulatory compliance.
This position provides daily leadership and coordination of all day-to-day health and safety requirements.
Job Duties/Responsibilities: Essential Functions • Plans, implements, and manages preventative health and safety programs.
Ensures regulatory compliance and provides oversight of health and safety-related training programs.
Participates in team meetings and provides a regular on-site presence.
Regularly engages with and provides technical support to employees, site supervisors and managers.
Objectively audit compliance in the workplace.
Develop and implement training as needed.
• Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective actions, and implement follow up assessments.
• Provides project management team with guidance on health and safety concerns and confirms project site fulfills industry, local, state, and federal guidelines, and regulations.
Review existing policies and procedures, making recommendations for improvement.
Develop new policies and procedures as needed to meet Project needs.
• Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures, contract documents, and good health and safety practices.
• Serves as primary contact for project site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management.
Maintains OSHA 300 Log and a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.
• Serves as Radiation Safety Officer • Assists Environmental Manager with environmental regulatory compliance and prevention • Ensures compliance with Homeland Security • Oversees First Response Team Education / Qualifications / Requirements • Master’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Engineering, or related discipline preferred • Minimum 10 years safety and health professional with at least 5 years in heavy manufacturing preferred • 3+ years supervisory level safety professional experience • Radiation Safety Officer Certification or willing to acquire • OSHA 500 and /or 501 Authorized Trainer Skills 1.

Organizational Skills: Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and under deadline pressure.
Ability to coach, mentor, and train across all levels of plant operations.

Perceptivity skills: Skills to interpret verbal and non-verbal behavior; to develop accurate perception and understanding of others’ feelings, needs, values and opinions; to be sensitive to and aware of personality differences and conflicts.
Specialized Working conditions and % Travel: • 10% travel required for training, conferences, and corporate-wide audits • Work across all shifts as needed for employee interaction and compliance auditing Working Conditions: 1.
Ability to be available as required by a 24/7 operation.
