*CNC Programmer/Machinist Job Description – HD MANUFACTURING LLC*
HD MANUFACTURING LLC has an opening for a CNC Programmer/Machinist.
In this role you will, under limited supervision, operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts.
You will be responsible for applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties and machining procedures.
*Duties and Responsibilities:*
* Program, set-up and operate conventional, special-purpose and Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machining including lathes, mills, surface grinders and multi-axis CNC equipment.
* Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut.
* Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to calculate dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
* Fabricate both metal and engineered-plastic parts by utilizing programming tools such as CAD/CAM and, Siemens or Heidenhain.
* Enter commands to retrieve, input, edit and validate computerized machine control media.
* Measure, examine or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments.
* Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
* Select and operate necessary cutting tools, hand measuring tools, power tools and horizontal and vertical band saws.
* Conduct housekeeping of shop and equipment.
* Other tasks as assigned by management.
* Abiding by the principles of Safe Conduct of Research including being personally responsible for ensuring safe operations by raising safety concerns, using a questioning attitude, considering hazards for every task, and never stop learning.
*Basic (or Required) Qualifications:*
* High school diploma or equivalent with 5 or more years of recent verifiable work experience as a machinist or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
* Work will involve contact with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) or Federal Contract Information (FCI) and as such a post offer, pre-hire background check will be required.
* All positions are subject to the Company’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
As such, a post offer, pre-hire drug and alcohol test will be required.
*Preferred Qualifications:*
* Completion of a certified machinist apprenticeship program.
* Knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, layout techniques and shop safety.
* General computer skills.
* Ability to work and coordinate effectively with others and maintain positive working relationships.
* Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made and ask questions as appropriate.
* Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
