*Job Description*SCOPE OF POSITION
The Registered Nurse RN is responsible and accountable for the care of the assigned patients and directs others to assure the delivery of Patient-Centered Care, based on patient needs, values and choices, to the Neonate, Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patient.
The RN assesses, determines nursing diagnoses, plans, implements and evaluates the care of assigned patients.
The RN is expected to practice autonomously within the practice guidelines of the VA State Board of Nursing, professional standards and the policies of Mountain States Health Alliance.
The RN demonstrates understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds of patients and caregivers.
The RN maintains current knowledge of evidence-based nursing practice and demonstrates critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process.
He/she actively participates in patient care quality and performance improvement activities.
The RN serves as a professional role model as a caregiver and resource for peers and other providers.
