SCOPE OF POSITION
The Certified Nursing Assistant will provide direct patient/resident care and supportive services to nursing unit and health care provider team under registered nurse supervision.
Responsibilities include: bedside patient/resident care, nursing assistant procedures, stocking supplies, maintaining equipment, routine housekeeping duties as needed, transportation of patients/residents as necessary, basic computer skills for documentation of care & procedures performed and for training and education needs.
Assists or performs Activities of Daily Living (i.
e.
bathing, toileting, eating, dressing, grooming, etc.
) for the patients/residents of the facility as well as changes bed linen and assists with transferring residents from bed to chair, chair to bed and turning and repositioning of the patient/resident while in bed.
Observes and reports the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdown to prevent decubitus ulcers.
Reports accident, incidents, injuries, and/or skin tears to nurse supervisor/charge nurse.
Measures and records blood pressure, heart rate, respirations, temperature and informs the RN/nurse supervisor/charge nurse if not within normal limits for the patient/resident (i.
e.
increased/decreased blood pressure, increased/decreased heart rate, etc.
).
Performs blood glucose monitoring if required per department expectations.
Ability to use computer and basic clerical skills is a must.
Performs clerical functions within the unit to include answering phones/call lights, inputting orders into the computer, supply ordering, etc.
Performs other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate or as directed by the leader/manager.
Must meet education and training requirements of department.
Completes training/competency in specialty skills/procedures for department population as designated.
Must be flexible to change working area/service multiple times daily.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Three years experience in a hospital/medical setting.
Valid and active CNA licensure in appropriate state.
Individuals who are at least 17 years of age, in the senior year of high school, and within 6 months of graduation where diploma is anticipated may be considered.
